Trampled, Laughed At, And More

by Duncan Jones

I once knew a lion, trampled, laughed at, and more

It was good for this king that nobody kept score

The one-eyed cat limped and was covered in scars

Yet the life in him strong, and bright like the stars

So one day I asked, for I’d not understood

The way he’d been treated was simply not good

He just rolled on his back and laughed in the sun

“Yeah? You think that I care? At night they still run

You see, nobody wins, so rigged is our game

And yet if you don’t it is you who’s to blame

But it’s all in your mind, it is something you choose

If you cannot be beat, my friend, you can’t lose!”
