The Shadow And The Silhouette

by Duncan Jones

The shadow and the silhouette

Their paths are often glancing

Not one can catch the other

So forever are they dancing ...

The shadow’s silent in the grass

Often stops and listens

But the silhouette’s time here is past

Now circles in the distance

The faintest scent, the slightest twitch

Continue or turn back?

So the silhouette moves slowly

For the shadow leaves no track

And time makes two the wiser

Each ahead, a step behind

Almost one upon the other

Always just about to find

And never have they met but yet

To each the other bound

And this last dance goes forever

Because neither can be found ...
