The Princess For Sure Looked Not Like Her

by Duncan Jones

Life can be rough

She’d heard enough

Of many words unkind

She wasn’t quite

The desired sight

That the pictures had in mind

The princess for sure

Looked not like her

A different set of eyes

A different face

Not to their taste

Her role was on the side

In time she grew

In time learned to

Accept just who she was

And life was good

She understood

This way, well, just because

Until one day

One came to say

“You must not know what’s seen

You stand too tall

No princess at all

The world sees you as queen!”
